I don't know how I did it, but I have found myself with an abudance of 50mm lenses, and I need to reduce my inventory.

50 DR Cron
50 Rigid Cron
50 CV F/2 col
50 col Cron M
50 col Cron LTM
50 Induster col
50 Summaron LTM
Also, I just orederd the Heliar 50 Col 3.5 re-issue

I use them all between 2xIIICs, M3, amd M8. They all have there own signatures, and the only one I don't care for is the Russian version I have.

Any ideas to which to cut?

The DR and rigid looks like a duplicate when it comes to optics. Perhaps the collapsible crons as well, keep the LTM and get an adapter?
But hey, I'm as guilty as you are when it comes to 50mms. I try not to make a list like this so that I dont have to worry about duplicates.

Why not free yourself? You can only shoot one lens at a time!

My vote would be to keep the Cron DR and the Summaron (you mean Summarit or Summitar, don't you?)...and lose the rest. And then shoot shoot shoot.

An even dozen sounds good. You need a 50 lux asph, a 50 lux LTM for the screwmount cameras, a modern sonnar design Zeiss 50 1.5 (?), and a CV 50 2.5 for when you want to travel light.

I tried very hard to cut my 50mm lens, now still have 5.

Two summilux, one rigid, one hexanon F2, one elmar 50/3.5

Only have one at the moment, but I need/want to get at least five more:

1) 50/2 Summar
2) 50/2 Sonnar (prewar, uncoated, put into a J-8 LTM shell by Brian Sweeney)
3) 50/2.8 Industar 61 L/D
4) 50/3.5 Elmar (prewar, uncoated)
5) 50/1.4 Canon (if I ever find one I can afford and actually have the money at the time. But it's a very low priority as I find 50/2 to be fast enough 99% of the time.)

I have way too many IMO:

f2 Hexanon
f1.2 Canon
Collapsable M mount Summicron
Collapsable Elmar f3.5
Nikkor f1.4
Industar 26
Summitar ...

... that makes seven and I really only seem to use two ... the Hexanon and the Canon! At one stage I had twelve so I suppose this is good.

Then of course there's the four SLR Zuikos!

many RFFers accumulate either 50's or 35's. am also former, here's my list

for M and LTM:
- Noctilux, -80's model E60
- Summilux, pre-asph E46
- J3 from -70's, J8 from -92.
- pre-war Elmar, Summar, Summitar, LTM modified Sonnar 1.5
- Summarit from -50's

Nikon:
- Nikkor 1.2
- Nikkor-S 1.4 (selling)

That's nearly thirty lenses!

We think we have problems with our measley five or ten! :D

Let's see...

One sharp
One fast

After that, maybe a fast compact for general use...

Actually, I normally use only one 50, the C-Sonnar (reasonably fast, very compact) and my wife uses only one too (Summarit -- very sharp, very compact).

Recently, I've got rid of a couple I didn't use much: the Nokton (sharper than the C-Sonnar but bulkier) and the Canon f/1.2 (the extra half stop over the Sonnar didn't really seem worth the effort, and a friend REALLY wanted it, so I gave it to him for his 60th birthday).

Cheers,

R.
