And how many shots do you get, when you use your M9  Serious, I never heard of a "couple hundred shots" with one battery. Perhaps a couple means 2-3?

Yeah, "couple" means "2-3". I have shot preview set to only when I hold the shutter button down, and I almost never do that, so I don't run the LCD much at all. <kennyrogers>There's time enough for chimping when the shooting's done.</kennyrogers>

I have 3 for M8. Two original, one aftermarket. The aftermarket one cost $11 and works better than the two originals. The original that camera with camera only lasts for 100 shots now.

I keep one in camera, one or two in my bag, so I'll always have one spare in the bag even if I'm waiting for another battery to charge.

Total of three Leica batteries for the M9. Never a problem with the batteries and have been using the M9 for 15+ months.

One :)

Enough to shoot more or less the equivalent of 10 Tri X roll film...who needs more than that ?

Btw i just ordered another one last week

Actually I had two previously,

1 Original and 1 third-party, but I read that third party batteries may cause damage to either the body or the charger so was thinking of getting another original battery..

Any comments?

Where's the best place to pick up a new battery? I only have one which has not caused me any issues, but when going on extended trips with questionable power, I would like to pick up a second.

B&H, Adorama, Amazon . . . .

I just got my fourth battery yesterday through Amazon.

I have two batteries for my M8.2. The original and one other that I bought at B&H photo that was considerably less than what the Leica dealer wanted. It's a genuine Leica battery and looks exactly the same as the one that came with my camera. Since I don't use the M8.2 a lot two is more than enough for me. - Jim

One original, one Chinese one.

You have to fully discharge the Chinese one before you recharge in order to get a full charge.

Planning to get one more, original or Chinese.

6 hours eats up one battery.

I have one battery for the M8. I will get an Asian one soon.
How come thatthe vast majority bought Chinese back-up batteries while some state that Leica batteries are better? When you spend several thousand Dollars on the M8 or M9, I would not risk my camera if the off-brand batteries could damage it.

I only have a battery on the m8.2, it lasts me for about 500 shots and so have never felt the need for a second one. I don't make much use of the LCD though, just occasionally to change ISO.

It seems to vary by the day:D. I have about eight Leica batteries and a bunch of other brand ones gathering dust in my cupboard.

I just bought a second one, an M8 battery. I wonder if it matters if it was sitting on a shelf for three or four years.

Two Leica brand batteries. Use the one till it dies, swap it for the charged one and put the dead one in the charger. Seems to work out ok.

I now have two original batteries and five batteries that are made by other companies.
