How many sheets 4x5 in HC-110 Dil B

Hi,

I have a Mod54 insert that holds 6 4x5 sheets of film and needs 1000ML developer to submerge all film.

In order to develop Ilford FP4 in HC-110 syrup I need to use Dilution B witch requires 30ml of syrup. Hate waist stuff. Any idea how manny sheets of film I can develop in this soup?


Film is exposed at ISO 125.
Yes I know there are other way's of developing sheet film. But I have to do it in daylight in the kitchen sink.
One day I hope to find a Paterson orbital tank with motor at a reasonable price...

I can't help with the other but I bought a Paterson Orbital a while ago and have only ever considered the motor once and Roger told me not to bother looking for one as they aren't worth the trouble. Having used it a fair bit I've found it's very easy to use without.

My orbital came virtualy new in box and cost me seventy dollars. (eBay) After using one of those damned Combi Plan tanks that Freestyle used to sell that leaks like a sieve the Paterson was a revelation! 🙂
 
For what it's worth,I've just compared the quantity suggested to develop a roll of 120
(about 60 sq. in.) to the area of a 4x5 sheet (20 sq.in) and you're probably good for about
3 sheets. It's a good starting point. Peter
 
I don't use anywhere near the 30ml of syrup for 6 sheets. But I use a higher dilution. Look around on the IN you will find what others use.

I just looked and I can't remember or find the dilution, but it was around 125:1. The downside it was for a long time (I think 18 min). If I find it I will post.
 
I suggest dilution E. That's 1:47, times are basically *1,5 dilution B times.

Still reasonable developing times, and gives slightly sharper results than B and compensates more.
