I shoot film only for specific projects. And a few for "practice" or when I desire to experiment something different. When I order I can have it delivered home in a couple of days.
Therefore a very limited stock, maybe 10 rolls plus a few polaroids.

I stock up on film when I can get it very cheaply, and then slowly run through it until I need to start looking for discounts again, usually eBay 20% off with free shipping.

In the last month I've picked up 90 rolls of HP5+ in 35mm, to join around 70 rolls of other bw emulsions and 12 rolls of colour, including 2 Velvia, in the freezer.

My freezer has around 80 rolls of bw and another 10 rolls of colour (mostly Portra) in 120.

That lot should last me a few years!

I scoured the world for Acros once it was discontinued and have 450 rolls of that on ice. Acros, to me, is by far the greatest ISO100 b & w film and I didnt want to lose it. I have 200 or so rolls of various other films on ice besides my Acros supply.

@Klyment, let me shorten your message considerably for you by spelling out its length:
"I'm sitting on about one kilometer of film"

:D :D ;) :D haha!

As ready-to-shoot rolls less than 100. However, I'm sitting on:

- 4 x 100foot spools of HP5+ and Delta 400
- ~850feet Kodak Vision 500T (original Vision)
- ~300feet Kodak Vision3 200T
- ~750feet Kodak Vision3 500T
- ~500feet Kodak Vision3 250D
- 400 4x5 sheets of Provia and Velvia 100F in unopened boxes in the freezer
- 60sheets in opened boxes 4x5 E-6 films
- 2 unopened 100sheet boxes of HP5+
- ~30sheets of HP5+ opened box
- 11 25sheet boxes of Ilford's direct positive paper
- ~50 sheets of random Dupont and Kodak litho film that I've never tried before.

Sitting on it, huh? When's all that film going to hatch? :D

I put 6-10, but sometimes it's less than 5.. I'm lucky enough to have a few options as far as buying fresh film that's local (L.A.) so I don't really have to keep my fridge stocked.. of course, if a film I like gets discontinued, i'll buy as much as I can budget and hoard. I still have 3 rolls of Neopan 1600 in my freezer for example.. :(

Right now I have three rolls of the new Ektachrome, waiting for a subject worthy of it, one roll of Cinestill 50, also waiting for an appropriate subject, and maybe 1-2 rolls of drug store Fuji.

Oh, almost forgot. One roll of not-that-far-out-of-date Fuji 1600.

A related question would be: Who has recently bought a chest freezer just for film? I'll start. Me. Slowly filling it with 100' bulk rolls.

I have more film than i need, but have stocked up when the price is right. I have a chest freezer full of film and that can make getting a specific film a little tough. so i wind up just buying more cause im to lazy to dig it out.

rough guess is

120 color neg film 70 rolls. mostly ektar and some portra 400
120 slide film. 430 rolls. mostly velvia 50 and provia 100. but there are 50 rolls of provia 400x and 30 rolls of velvi 100 i was given
220 slide film 110 rolls of velvia 50 and 27 rolls of astia
120 B&W about 1200 rolls mixed of many different films. but a very large stock of tmax 400 and APX 25

35mm

color neg about 50 rolls of ektar and 4 bulk rolls of superia 400 which i got on clearance for a price that was too good to pass up

slide film about 300 rolls of the usual velvia 50 and provia 100
B&W about 300 rolls of various types
B&W bulk rolls about 50 of various films.

again, more than i really need its just when good prices come up, I jump. I have never had any issues shooting expired film as long as it has been stored properly. I always test a roll first and if its good it goes in 1 pile, if not it gets used for other projects.

Keep on shooting

I keep about a ten year supply, rotate & replace stock on regular / still made emulsions twice a year. All of it is kept near or below freezing in two separate refrigerators, one for 4x5 film and the other for 35mm & 120mm.

Alternatively, how much chemistry are you hoarders keeping in stock? Enough to match the 100s of rolls of film?

Me too. Bought the biggest capacity upright freezer I could find. Been stocking it up for the last ten years.

I shoot 35mm to 8x10"
