I have nice one with a 50mm 1.8 that I would sell for $450.00
All speeds are on. The glass is clean and clear. This is what I paid for the camera. If you are interested please let me know..
PM me.

Yeah I could see that.
I chose to pay a bit more because it was from a member who was reputable...plus the shutter curtain on mine is not wrinkled.

The really important thing to remember though is that the wrinkling is purely cosmetic - it's really hard to wrinkle that puppy enough to cause a problem and not have done enough damage that an equal cloth shutter would not have also been trashed.

You also need to remember that the metal coating was only due to the sun-pinhole problem. In all of their SLR shutters (AFAIAA) Canon used cloth because, simply, the mirror prevented any burn through.

My Canon 7 came to me for0 less than $200 from KEH with perfect shutter speeds and a spot on meter. It has a handful of cosmetic issues and a wrinkled shutter; to have those things not be true is not worth hundreds of dollars more when I can produce an equally good image with my camera body. Likewise my 50/1.8 has a tiny bit of haze that is not worth opening the lens to clean. Yet I paid about half of what some have recently...

<sigh> Sometimes it really is that simple... 😱

I understand that prices have fallen considerably since a certain moderator of this forum stopped his one-man publicity campaign for canon P's, sold his collection and switched to Zeiss-Ikon/Leitz cameras. 😉

Hmm...Maybe thats it...I really enjoy using the P, but once again tuition payment is due the end of the month...

William,
Not sure, but dont P's sell for more than 7's as a whole?
I know the 7's construction is not on par with the P...and is larger. It does have a meter though...
Anyways, I think my P and 50mm 1.8 are worth the price I paid $450.00

Overall, yes P's do sell for more. However there were _many_ more 7's manufactured than P's so that has a very real capitalist impact on the issue... 🙄

I find it is a prefernce issue - while the P is smaller it's VF is much less... desirable... shall we say? The finder lines on a P are etched into a small piece of glass placed just inside of the eyepeice. So eventhough it is 1:1 (a major plus) the actual finder lines are _not_ projected (look at the front of a P - there are only two windows 🙁 ) unike the 7 series where they are. This is a very real, major, difference in the two cameras. I like selenium meters despite thier issues, however, the real reason I went 7 rather than P is the whole frameline issue. The P is much less desirable, to my eyes.

I hope this is of some help,

William

Take that deal and run--it's a very good price. NO connection w/ seller!

$450 for a very good condition P with lens from a known source is a very fair price. I was about to sell my well used Canon P for $225 B/O with an extra $50 for a clean 50/1.8. and I did list the VI-L in excellent condition for $375 for the body all including shipping.

I am not sure a certain moderator has that much effect on world prices but some of the LTM prices do seem to be dropping at the moment both for the bodies and the glass.
