I've re-read the thread & think most folks are under-valuing these cameras. I don't just mean that the market price has gone up because of Chinese collectors. IMO Old Standards have 2 things going in their favor:
1. Fine 'classic' uncoated-lens image quality (mentioned above),
2. The rudiments of a gorgeous design. I have an Original & it looks cute, like something teddy bears would take pictures with. And I have a couple of Automats, which IMO are a high-point in Bauhaus-era industrial design, with form perfectly following function. In its design the Old Standard is a beautiful transition piece in this development, with its winding crank; with the beginnings of classic Rollei outlining/highlighting; & with that fine-looking 'weapons grade' eye-level finder.
I'm not saying this just from a collecting standpoint, I mean it for enjoying vintage photography with beautiful old tools.
I'd like to own an Old Standard & would expect to pay $300 or more for a good user (not a collector's queen – much more for that).

(PS, I know the design changes I mentioned began earlier in the Baby Rollei, but I wouldn't want to use one of those.)
