3/4 of a pint and then some. That's how much my M6 took at a Kyuss (50%) reunion show last night. I fully expected a more chilled show with spliffs being passed around, just like the opening show. I even stood a little on the side to make sure. But no, as soon as the first notes were heard mosh-pit started, the beer of my neighbor flew up and landed on my M6, then as push and shove started my beer went on top of it as well, as much as I tried to protect the camera at the time. No chance to wipe it down either, my tshirt, just like everyones around me, was soaked wet. Oh well, the camera survived just fine, everything works. I was mostly worried about beer getting into the viewfinder and under the mount, but doesn't seem to be the case.

Not the first time it's happening either. Last time my brand new S3 went through some beer splashing too, mostly the lens though. No problem.

I've only had this M6 for a couple of weeks or so. Nothing like a good ol' beer bath. I consider this a proper baptism for the camera. Cheers! :D

Haha, true that. But my favorite cameras are the ones I can use in any most situations. If I have to baby them and only take them out to shoot "safe", well, I don't want them. I'm fully prepared to write any camera off as long as I can shoot whatever I want with it.
(I did think for a second to start bringing crappier cameras to the shows, but changed my mind, no place for princesses in my collection).

Exactly !
My F100 (well it is a tank to start with...) has been sat on, stepped on, dropped, bumped into, banged against the turnstiles in the metro and even got into a snowstorm. Works perfectly.

Haha :) reminds me of a German friend, who in a state of drunkenness, went out of the way to prove German engineering was the best. He dropped his Seimens phone into a pint of beer, and set it ringing in the mug. *crazy times*

I'm always surprised at how much the M series can take. My M8 has a crack in the LCD and the paint is chipping off but it still works like a champ!

Kyuss reunion?? how in the hell did i miss that?

how were they?

bob

edit--whoops, i missed the 50% in quotations. which 50% was it, and did they actually bill themselves as Kyuss?

Well, it wasn't a reunion per se, it was "Garcia Sings Kyuss" deal, with a couple of songs from Unida and Slo Burn thrown in. But as a special occasion in Amsterdam Brant Bjork has joined them on stage, hence my 50% Kyuss remark (the other guys were from Celestial Seasons, if you heared of them). But I guess that's a close to seeing Kyuss as you can get since 1993.

The show was quite good. The crowd went wild, I haven't seen so much stage-diving in ages. Good times, even if the camera got a little wet :)

i'd be scared of the beer ruinng the film somehow

Apart from the exterior getting wet everything was in perfect order. No stickiness or anything. I'd freak out if I found the film inside soaked in beer.

Good to know that the camera withstand the liquid. I been hesitating to use my M2 in a slight rain worrying that some of the water will get into the camera.

Dropped my M4P in a river in Kashmir. 'Dried it out' on the hotel radiator overnight. Carried on using it until I got back to civilization and had it CLAd. Tech said I really needn't have bothered .
Awesome.
Fell into a river with a D300 during last years floods in England. Now using it as a paperweight !

For long term survival it might be however a good idea to advise your M6 to stay off beer and liquors and to just concentrate on having vodka straight :p
