How much should I be looking at spending..

on a Serenar 28mm 3.5 with the leather case and original viewfinder? The glass in both the lens and viewfinder are in good condition, no haze, fungus etc, and the aperture and focus works smoothly. It's currently listed on -bay for $455. This sounds a little too steep for what's being offered. Should I message him and ask if he'll take a lower offer and give my reasons why? What sort of money would YOU spend on this kit?

don't know what the viewfinder is worth and if the set with the case etc. has some extra value but for the lens - even though i'd like to have it - i'd pay no more than 250$, if it's really haze-free (you never know). can you return it with this seller?

and why not contacting the seller? what is the worst you can get as a reply? 'No', I guess...

If it is the only one listed on ebay, chances are the seller won't even respond to an offer for a lower price.

Some items might be worth less than what they are put up for sale for, but if that is the ONLY one put up for sale, it doesn't leave much room for negotiations ...

Depends on how badly you want it.

Seriously, this is a single sample of a decades-old lens that none of us has seen or tired.

Personally, I'd not bother at $250. But if YOU really want it, what's wrong with $1000?
