How much should I bid on this Canon P?

Shutter looks good, it has the 50mm f1.4 lens and meter, and it looks almost new. I would say $600 or so. But don't go by me. 😛

Also, the original leather case in that shape is really rare...which may bump it up a bit. Just hope that collectors don't go for it.
 
From what I have seen P bodies go for around $300. This lens is more expensive than the one that I got. It is probably worth $300 as well. I have seen them go higher when sold separately. Everyone says that it is superb, one of the best LTM lens (here, the link below and on cameraquest). I'm not sure what the meter and case add to the price.

I hope that you are not advertising to your bidding competitors here! Good luck. It looks to be in great shape, probably because of the case. The shutter curtain is pretty smooth as well.
 
It's the case that's going to make it go high, though...that case is as rare as snow in hell. 😉 I'd love a case for my P, but I think I'm going to end up modifying an old Argus case (gasp!) or buying one from Luigi at some point...I do love Italian leather.
 
I am with Sonnar, my guess is that this sells for @$700. If you can get it for less than $600 it will be a good deal. Over $600 you are getting into the fair territory only you can decide how high fair is, $750 will be over paying.

I have a mintish case for my Canon VI-L. Are you suggesting that the case is worth quite a lot or is this only true for the P?
 
I thought it was much the same case. The P is a VI-L with a simplified finder.

Who still uses their case? This old leather can get pretty brittle. I wouldn't trust the strap on mine. I've had my Canon P for two weeks and already there were a couple little dings to the baseplate. I put the bottom back on, like a half case, to protect the camera a little more.
