How much to pay?

Chances are pretty big that the rangefinder will be misaligned, with the ding right about the rangefinder window. Factor in the re-aligning cost when bidding. Personally I wouldn't bother unless you think you can fix it yourself - I'd look for one in worse cosmetic condition but without dings. Bessas just get misaligned too easily.

The dent looks like its more so above the viewfinder than the rangefinder window, but I wouldn't be willing to bet any amount of money on the condition of the entire VF/RF assembly inside.

I got mine for $425 from a member on this board. Aside from a missing PC cap, the camera is perfect. I think less than 10rolls of film were put throught it.

The 'ding' would have me looking for a real bargain here. No more than $300 I think...that's just me though.
I have a used R3A on the way for $479 w/6 month warranty. How much would you have to discount that price to make it worth the risk of needing service? Quite a bit I think.

so....maybe I should just pass, im sure someone else on ebay would be willing to put some crazy price on the camera and roll the dice on the ding

Some ebayers are nuts. Before Christmas, I saw a used R3A go for what it would have cost to get a NEW one from Cameraquest. Silly.

I personally would not bid, not for the camera condition, but for the Cameraquest stolen "stock" photo...but that is just me

What really stands out in that ebay ad is the use of Cameraquest's photo as a "stock photo". I wonder if Stephen is aware of it...

I thought there was a thread on this issue a while back, but I'm not sure...if he doesn't know someone ought to notify him of it.

I was wondering about that stock photo too, anyway im goign to put a low max bid and if I get it fine if I dont oh well, ill go to my bank and take out a loan haha
