That's about it. A Billingham is a ridiculous extravagance -- until you use one. One of ours fell off the carrier of the Bullet 350 motorcycle in India over 20 years ago and was dragged 20-30 yards by its strap. We're still using it...The problem with the bags, is the same as with Leicas. Once you try something of this class you don't want to settle for less. This is why I like Fogg bags. They break in the way Leicas brass away - becoming nicer to wear. My latest favourite is Encore: holds easily an Ipad and a couple of M7's. I don't remember the price, but it was Leica style.

Then again, I've been using Billinghams so long I've never felt the need of Foggs.

The most I've ever spent on a camera bag is what my Fogg B-Major cost a few years ago. Don't quite remember what I paid as I prefer to quickly forget just in case my wife asks.

The best camera is one that still works!
Not much but I'm prepared to spend whatever to get the camera I want.
My total (3) bag collection is worth about two hundred dollars ... bags don't take photographs, cameras and photographers do!

Don't really like the billingham look. But I have a ONA Bowery, which is my most expensive dedicated camera bag.
Backpacks, however, are a different deal - I have an extremely nice, leather limited edition backpack from my school's commencement event. Only a few are made every year and sold to people who are graduating. Close to $300, but it's the nicest backpack I've ever see.

Around $370 each for a Wotancraft Ryker and an Ona Berlin I.
I have to say I am tempted by the Fast+Prime Agent 82, but at $1,350, it far exceeds the realm of an impulse purchase...
The new Leica bags announced at Photokina include a case by Schedoni for the modest sum of $4,500. Who would slum it with Louis Vuitton under these conditions?
