Pretty funny. Rangefinder is obviously a new thing to him... Oh well, I guess we've all been there.

My little trick is to get one of those caps with the string attached (which I immediately throw the string in the junk drawer), and place it on the lens so that the loop is within sight of the viewfinder frame, or sticking straight up. Of course, real Leica caps don't come with that feature, so you have to GASP! use a third party accessory.

I like the way he looks down at the lens a couple of times, yet does not notice!

So I guessing none of the RFF crew has ever left their lens cap on ;-)

I just keep the hood on my summicron 50 all the time and take off the lens cap as soon an I pick up my camera. Same with the x100.
.. but that was *after* shooting a few through the lens cap

Didn't we see this same video posted some months ago? Still funny.
Reminds me of the photo of Bush at a military base looking through binoculars with... yup... lens caps on.

Yeah, because no one in this thread, who uses lens caps, has ever had this happen...

This video pops up every few months here, it's been around for a while. I can't help but feel sorry for this guy, he has become an internet sensation just for forgetting to take the cap off LOL!!.
I am sure we've all lost few frames here or there by doing the exactly same thing....

It looks to me that he's trying to figure out why the meter isn't responding as expected. Funny.

Yes indeed, happens to everybody at some point of time but if you are not used to it - and he obviously is Nikon DSLR guy, then it does take more than a while to figure out what is wrong.
Reminds me of the Aborigine in the outback mentioning to a photog:
"Hey you can't take my picture!" ...
"Why not, is it against your religious believes?"
"No, but you have your lens cap still on"

Shooter of Film...
Every time he looks at the lens he has a frown but when he puts the camera up to his eye he's smiling...I thought he would see the lens cap this time...and no on in the crowd tells him...
