I seem to have been lucky but still take two bodies and two lenses, wide on one shoulder and tele on the other and a P&S sometimes for when the things are locked in the car and I'm enjoying the show or going for a drink. The P&S has had its share of published pictures, btw.
When not worried about things my wife and I take the same model camera each. So less battery back-up, chargers needed etc.
And years ago, on holiday, the Leica failed dramatically but I was able to buy the only camera for sale on the island; a Cosmic Symbol. It's a pleasant camera and turns out decent pictures, and I was using slide film then.
