How old r u???

OK, I'll throw in some 30s.... I'm 35 but in my head and heart I don't feel a day over 20. 🙂

I would like to be 22 with an M of any sort. When I was 22 I had an Olympus XA. Along with a Minolta SRT. Enjoyed them both very much.

Today I am 49, about to be 50 this coming Wednesday and I have too many Rangefinders.

I still look forward to that M. Oh, and a Porsche 356, so that I can be like other grey haired codgers cruising around SoCal (namely La Jolla).

Enjoy it all Jun, and enjoy it for a long time to come!

PS- by the way, I would not have assumed you were 22 from the avatar.

42 (shudder!). Bought my first Leica - funnily enough an M4P - back in late 1999. I agree, don't worry about what your friend says. Digital doesn't have soul like a Leica.

I show him my Leica M4-P, but he told me only old guy use such kind of RF.

Don't show him the camera, show him the photos you took with it. My guess is that he will regret those remarks.

I could be equally stereotypical and say that 20-boppers think of a cam-phone as a creative tool. 🙂 🙂 🙂 {ducking and running}

Am I old??? As u can see from the photo I am 22.

So I want to know, how old are u guys???

Ya know, age is one thing I'm terribly vain about, just a hang-up I have. 🙁

In actuality I'm more than twice your age, let's leave it at that! 🙂 I also got my first rangefinder when I was younger than you, and I got my second rangefinder just a couple months ago.

My suggestion is to use the tools you like, and those that allow you to do the work that you want. Then when you're with your friends who have digicams and cam-phones, instead of comparing cameras, compare the photos you took with them. 🙂 Just my suggestion. 🙂

26 here. Actually so far, Beniliam is the youngest (at least by this thread). The general consensus on age is that you always seem to resent it until you learn to ignore it.
Still waiting for my first RF.

Age is all attitude.

Your first RF will make you a true believer!

Many years ago, when I was a student at the University of Iowa there was a study that asked the entering co-eds what age of man was most attractive. The results provided good news and bad news for middle aged men. The good news was that the co-eds thought middle-aged men were the most attractive. The bad news was that they thought 26 years old was middle aged. :bang:

I'll be 53 in June for those of you that want to send presents 🙂

Clearly the individuals polled didn't have great expectations for a long life. At their age I assumed I would live forever. With middle aged being where I am now. Funny how that works.

Ok age is a state of mind, I am 36 years old and I say I am on the 11th anniversary of my 25th birthday ( a nice round age). Ok I run into people way younger than me (early 20's) who are just as into old school equipment as myself or anyone here in attendance. There was a 23 year old girl at henry's in Oakville that had a Hassleblad outfit and swore buy medium format film and had no love for digital. who cares if our digitial peers do not get our fascination for Leicas and rangefinder cameras in general. In my part of the world they think I am some eccentric for using gear on average older than I am (M3 Nikon F, NIkkormat, Contax IIIa, Canon Cannonet and AE1), but I am the one laughing because the quality of my shots will be better than any Coolpix or what HP is putting out. Ok the Hassleblad girl at Henrys got another gig as a photographers assisstant and I miss our conversations on gear.

Seems Stephanie just gained a year! Congrats! How old are you now? 😛

Recently 27. My first rangefinder was August 2002, so that is 2.5 years ago now. I am enjoying it very much and it seems to be aging as gracefully me...it has a little brassing on the rewind knob and shutter advance, I have some silvering on my sideburns. I don't talk about my rewind knob in mixed company but it is working perfectly thank you very much.

i am 27 though my students put my age at somewhere between 20 and 23...the mathematically inclined put my more towards 25, and my girlfriend is convinced i'm 12.

I've had a RF camera my whole shooting life, but never used it (or knew what it was, really, until the week before I joined this great site)
