In case anybody didn't know yet, the lens of the Yashica Electro 35 cameras are amazingly sharp.

The shot below was taken with a Yashica Electro 35 GSN on Fuji Superia 200 film, scanned on a Canoscan FS4000US (pretty good scanner, a bit noisy though). The picture below the first is a 100% crop of the red square in the first image.

I wonder if there is still more "information" on the film. I have to pick a favorite one of these days and get it scanned on one of those Heidelberg Tango scanners (at least $20 per scan in high resolution afaik).

Electros are great cameras,or should I say, bulky beaters with fantastic glass. The kind of light you had for that shot would suit nearly any camera. In bad light the Yashica shines like a star.Mines got a problem with battery chamber (leak).Another '70's Rangefinder I have is a Vivitar 35ES and it too has a beautiful lens, a 40mm f1.7 .Worth keeping an eye out for.People seem to be put off by the Viv. name these days as they are usually the cheapest digital p&s you can buy.My first 35mm Rangefinder was a black Electro GT and it blew away my digicams and made me see the difference between medicore lenses and good glass.

I agree the light was perfect for a sharp shot. Still quite amazing.

I have to check out the Vivitar 35ES, sounds interesting. A 40mm fixed lens would be a great camera to take on a hike, having that extra 5mm (or 10mm).

Don't forget the Olympus Stylus Epic. I've been shooting with a Retina IIIc with a Schneider-Krauznach f/2. Can't beat it either.

I agree with you, that's amazing. I took the lens from YASHICA Electro 35 GSN and use on the Micro 4/3 digital camera.
