How to adjust high speeds on a Canon L2/L3

I checked my Canon L2 with a good speed tester. The medium and low speeds are really perfect, but the 1/125-1/500 range is too slow:

1/500 = 1/210 (more than 1 stop !)
1/250 = 1/150
1/125 = 1/90

There is a repair manual for the Canon rangefinders around the internet but I did'nt found explanations or instructions about adjustment.

I think he's referring to a shutter speed tester.

I don't think it's possible to change selected speeds. You could try to increase the curtain tension on the second curtain to decrease the size of the gap, but that would affect all speeds AFAIK. It could also cause issues with capping, which would be worse than having your fast speeds a little slow. Shoot some film and see if your negatives look overexposed. If you can notice the overexposure, just remember to stop down your lens a little more when using those speeds.

I have an old Canon repair manual for the IV-S2 camera. I’m assuming the shutter mechanism on IV-S2 is similar to that of the Canon L-series.

To adjust the shutter, Canon recommends:

“Shutter should be tested at the highest two speeds. If these two shutter speeds prove to be satisfactory, it indicates that the rest of the high shutter speeds are adjusted correctly. If the inspector finds any defect which cannot be adjusted, adjust the shutter in the following manner:

1) Adjustment to shutter speed is done by adjusting the tension of the shutter springs of the first and second shutter curtains. In order to tighten the spring, turn the shaft counter-clockwise.

2) Second shutter curtain should overlap the first curtain by 3.0 mm.”
