has anyone yet spotted sir ken of rockwells comments on the forthcoming r-d1x
i have always been dubious of this mans internet based ramblings but this for me really takes the biscuit

http://kenrockwell.com/epson/r-d1x.htm

i love the highly flawed comparison he makes in saying the r-d1 is like a disposable camera

im not going to waste my time picking at all the holes in his argument as i do belive everyone is entiteled to an opinion irregardless of how contradictory it might be.

i just thought it might be fun for other readers of this site to have a look and possibly a chuckle at what he has to say for him self

Hey, it's working for him! I wish I was getting that much traffic on my blog, with people clicking on the ads. I wish I had the gall to suggest to people that they should send me money to help support it!

kenrockwell.com is proof of the adage "there's no such thing as bad publicity, as long as they spell your name correctly"

...how to alienate an entire forum (someone dislikes the R-D1x)...

oh, i thought we were talking about wilson pickett...;)

Ken is right! When compared to other digital camera's on the market right now, this is simply a rangefinder body stuffed with outdated electronics. If you have the need to shoot your Leica M lenses save your cash & buy a Panasonic G1. Which ever you buy, you will still be spending the same amount of time behind the computer photoshopping your images.

i like the idea of having both the g1 and an rd1...and these days i prefer the laptop and photoshop to a wet darkroom.

progress is not a bad thing for everyone.

I will start making outrageous statements in my blogs. Let's see if that works.

Wait... nobody reads them... I guess I still can say what I want anyway. :)

I'm not meaning to sound critical of the process. I just can't jump up & down for joy about the release for this camera @ such an outrageous price. I don't read anything Ken wrote that I can disagree with. Sorry! but the Nikon D40 is a much better camera. As far as dollar for dollar goes I want even bring up the Canon 5D mkII.

I take an image from my RD1s, open it in RAW developer and save as a Tiff. Then print it.
You simply don't know what you're talking about.

As for Ken. Well... retard is too kind a word.

Do you do this standing or sitting behind your computer? What did Ken say that you disagree with?

what i like best about the 'new' x model is that parts and service for the rd1 will be available for a bit longer. (my assumption anyway.)

If this is some kind of dig from one a film-user who decided to come over to troll the RD1 forum for a bit of fun (quite a lot of trolls suddenly emerged the last couple of days, onto what's been a civilized, informative and uncontroversial forum for the last couple of years), then I guess you missed that I also shoot two film Ms.

I've followed links to Ken's site a few times this last year. Foolishly I actually expect him to say something sensible sometime.

The guy is a shameless self-publicist - and I'm sure he's doing well on it.

I very much doubt the internals are the same. BTW I'm not bashing the RD1s. I think it's an outstanding camera. I think it was a mistake Epson discontuined it to start with. My biggest beef is that with advancements in electronics, they could have & should have made more up to date advancements. I'm also no Ken R. fanboy but you guys are bashing him & you can't seem to give an intellegent reason why you disagree. I dare any one of you to come up with why for the same amount of $$ you can buy this new RD1 against a Canon 5dmkII. except you want the feel of a Rf.

Sorry but I'm not trolling. This is a thread bashing Ken & I simply wanting to here an intelligent reason why you disagree. I think the problem is, is that you don't like somebody calling you out & you can't.

i have not bashed or even commented about ken rockwell.

after having and loving and using the g1 with my zm lenses, yes, i do want the rf experience - i want zm lenses, the rf experience and digital all in one.
