How to best present and store prints?

So I've spent the best part of 2 weeks now hunting through this website and have come across some truly gorgeous photography. I've noticed that some people use white borders, some black and some don't use borders at all.

So what's your preference and why?

Also in terms of storing prints, what do you do? Special folder? Tray? Pile on your desk?

For showing work the simple black frame on white mount looks good to me...

What about just storing and cataloguing all other prints?

I agree with a plain black frame around a white matted print as the best way to show off a photo. When you go to a gallery or a museum that's what they use, although recently 18% grey frames seem to be common. I buy archieval storage boxes in the appropriate size and put all of my mounted prints into them. As I generally dry mount only my best work, there aren't too many to store.

Only issue that I know of with dry mounting is that collectors, museums etc generally do not like prints to be dry mounted (but to each their own, I suppose). Cotton hinges or archival photo corners would work fine, in an acid-free matboard with wide borders (add a bit more at the bottom for 'balance').
