Hello everyone,

could you please give me some advice on how to clean those quasi-octagonal huge pieces of glass in my Durst L1200 4x5 negative carrier, especially the 'plain' bottom one?

I never seem to be able to get rid of a tiny amount of (iridescent and image softening) grease/grime that gets smothered from one place to another using a soft cotton cloth and regular liquid window cleaning spray. Then there's small bits of dust and cotton strands that just love to stay there. I can't possibly project anything trough that.

Thanks in advance.

Mix a bit of ammonia, a drop of sink dishwashing soap, and a bit of rubbing alcohol with warm to hot water and, using a soft cloth and/or a q-tip, lightly scrub the affected areas. I have been using the aforementioned combination on our house's windows inside and out as well as my Saunders' dichroic enlarger's neg carriers for years and it cuts through just about everything.
