Just got an EPL1 with the kit lens. I am having trouble figuring out how to close the lens for travel mode.

I realize there is an unlock button, but upon pressing it, is the lens just supposed to collapse, or does the zoom barrel need to be at a specific location?

Thanks!

** update ** I figured it out, it's a push and twist type of operation.

Glad you figured that out. This lens is kinda a love-hate thing for me: love the compact size, but hate that somewhat cumbersome collapsing method. And how the camera totally freaks-out when you turn it on before extending the lens.

The lock is counter-intuitive so it is not really surprising that you were initially confused by it. The bigger problem comes when you turn the camera on with the lens locked and you get the message "Check the status of a lens." Hopefully that doesn't mean you miss the shot you were trying to get. :bang:

yeah

yeah

I didn't really even want the kit lens, but it was thrown in at a reasonable price, and the kids might like the AF if I give it to them.

However, first few snapshots with it a pretty good in the mid-ranges, some distortion at the extremes, but not a whole lot more than say an old Nikkor lens.

So for a kit lens, it is not bad at all, and with the 1.3 firmware upgrade, focusing speed is decent.
