No, roses and wine won't work....

Hello, All!

New to this forum, having recently revived my interest in rangefinders. I'm going to purchase a Bessa R in a few weeks (when I get back from vacation), and in the meantime, have retrieved a Kodak Signet 40 from the depths of a cabinet in the basement. Having put a few rolls through it, and figured out how to get a decent scan of the film, I'm jumping in the RF pool. Also shooting a couple of Canon DSLR's, with the expected glut of lenses, but am attracted to the compactness, potential spontaneity, and good image quality afforded by rangefinders.

Anyhow, the initial reason for this post (other than to introduce myself) is to find out how old this signet is. It's got a serial number stamped into the bottom of 033901. The rangefinder works fine, the viewfinder is OK, and the focus and shutter mechanisms function. Scanned pix are surprisingly good, I think. with a bit of practice, I think a rangefinder might just be a solid candidate for a backup for the DSLR's, and a general purpose carry-camera for when I don't want to pack the big guns.

Regards!
Don

Thanks, victor. Here's a scanned image downsized. Nothing special, but I thought the image was crisp, with correct colors.
