The US ambassador to Syria has been pelted with eggs and tomatoes.

All right, we all wish there had been no pelting with anything, but isn't this a marked improvement on snipers, suicide bombers and the like?

Shouldn't this be encouraged as a means of showing disapproval, as compared with any more violent protest? Can't we train an SES (by analogy with the SAS) to throw eggs at people we don't like? Or NAVY DUCKS instead of NAVY SEALS?

Isn't there room for more of this sort of thing at home, wherever 'home' may be?

Cheers,

R.

So long as the eggs are not hard boiled and the tomatoes aren't in cans. I also approve of the whipped/shaving cream pie thing that's been popular recently (like the person who missed getting Rupert Murdoch when the Mrs. stepped in defend the poor old sod). Harmless, but gets the point across. And, lord knows that most of these folks can afford the dry cleaning bill.

The aerodynamics are a bit wanting, to say nothing of the vast expense, but a pie in the face is always a classic.

I think there was a time when throwing eggs and tomatoes was the right thing to do, but that was before the invention of language.
