I would like to swap out the glass in some B+W & Heliopan uv filters.

Unlike filters made by other brands (Hoya, Tiffen etc), on B+W and Heliopan filters there are no slots for a spanner wrench to unscrew the retaining ring keeping the glass in the filters.

Has someone done this before, if so, what tools would you recommend? The only thing I can think of is to fashion some sort of rubber(friction) ring from a generic chair-end rubber cap. And use it to create friction/tension 'wrench' to unscrew the retaining ring.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

PS: for those curious, I'm trying to swap new mint uv glass into a 40mm Heliopan uv filter. While other 40mm filter rings exist, I like the brass construction of the B+W and Heliopan filters.

If you were interested in brass filter rings, you can also try to look for older nikon filters, I have managed to find a few in my local camer shops' parts bin. They were also made out of brass and have a good heavy feel to them. Just a bit of a shame to trash the B+W and Heliopans.
