How to replace Rollei 35 rewind lock lever

Hey all. I opened my Rollei 35 to add a diode to the meter and found I didn't have to because of those cute little pots that control the voltage. Yay!

My problem comes down to reassembly. I put her all back together and ran some film. When it came time to rewind it the camera stuck and ripped the film. Had to take it out in a dark room. Turned out my rewind lock lever is not opposite of what it was. Down is unlocked. Up is locked. I though I'd be a smart guy and move the lever up, remove it, and realign it down, but I'm not sure that did the trick.

Whats the definitive way to know you've put the shaft of this thing in right and have the level turned the right way? I need to readjust the pot again and probably glue it because I'm sure its moving on its own, so I'll be taking the top case off anyway. Thanks!

Ok, I figured it out by playing with the actual internal mechanism. There is a small tube inside the chassis of the camera that has a rim on it. When that tube goes up the film advance unlocks and can spin freely. The shaft that attaches to the lever has a small pin on the end that goes in the camera. That pushes up the rim which raises the tube, etc. etc.

The trick is the put in the shaft with the pin your left when it's facing away from you. That puts the flat part of the shaft on the right side. Then turn the shaft COUNTERclockwise putting the pin on the bottom and now under the tube's rim. So, now, when you turn the lever 90 counterclockwise when putting it into reverse it will lift the rim.
