I have looked at Cameraleather.com, and Aki-Asaki. Cameraleather's website is undergoing a redesign. I didn't see anything about my lens on Aki-Asaki. All I need is a little strip of leather, or griptac or pseudo-vulcanite or something, to go around the base of the lens.

I would visit a leather store to find a piece of thin leather that has a suitable texture. I have a couple of such stores in my home city so expect that many cities will have them. They cater to hobbyists and the like. A webpage from one of my local suppliers lists "garment leathers", some of which look more or less fit for purpose. It will at least give you an idea of what could be available. Alternatively, one solution I used (for another purpose) was to visit an upholsterer who specialized in reupholstering leather furniture. He had offcuts that he let me have at no cost. That may be an option but furniture leather tends to be thicker and it may need thinning on the back side.

I've purchased sheets from Aki-Asahi in the past; simply cut it to size. Look here.I have looked at Cameraleather.com, and Aki-Asaki. Cameraleather's website is undergoing a redesign. If you have a good hand plane and know how to really use it, you can always look for either a used leather belt or handbag from a resale or thrift shop and thin the leather yourself, with plenty to spare.
If you go this route, you might consider some colourful quality leather to give your lens a fun look, which would also make it easier to discern in your bag or coat, when there is a action shot to be had, if you move quickly.
There will be plenty here whose bellies may turn at this suggestion, but it's only that, and a way to help enable you do more with lesser resources.
IMO.
