I propose to gather some cash on RFF to pay the ransom, release the princess from its torturer, deplate it and black paint it.

Hahahhahaha that`s a good idea, I`d donate ~ anything to see the plating come off this camera and to have it WORK again.

I`m sure this camera had a very interesting life in the hands of a US Army Officer (it was originally issued to the US Army in June 1946) - in Germany after the war taking pictures in the 1946/47 era, it had LOT`S OF USE, first time I saw it, so it was a beloved camera.

Ohh I wrote them....I`m SURE I won`t get an answer back, but I explanied that, it`s a camera that so very few people even know about their history, but it`s still as if they would take a Luftwaffen Leica IIIC K Grey and goldplate it.....yuck!

Wonder what`s next in line for them to do, maybe a IIIG with a Leicavit and an original Summilux f1.4/50 LTM or maybe a 1960`s Noctilux, or maybe they should goldplate a titanium shutter Nikon SP with a Nikkor f1.1/50....that sounds like fun - ugggh!!!! ~ Gives me the damm creeps!!!!!

Really stupid, and I bet there`s like $15 worth of vacu plated 24k gold on these, one good brush or touch and the gold`s gone, or it will turn green 😛 - this stuff SHOULD be outlawed!!!!!

Ohh wel enough ranting, I know to each his own, but there`s so many nasty, peeling, chipping, pitting and ugly 1948 thru 1950 IIIC`s out there - gold plate some of them and sell um for $600, I`m sure like I said there`s only like $15 worth of gold on it anyways, so they would STILL make a profit 😛

There's really not much point in being annoyed by the tastes of other people. More fun to be amused. This tarted up camera is as unlikely to be used for what it was made to do as it would have been in its earlier state.

Indians are crazy about gold. It has always been smuggled into the country, though X-ray machines have stopped the practice of bringing it in in rectums.

Um, well, um it could be worse. I can think without any effort of a firm that used to make RF's who have sold a range of pink cameras...

Damm, now I'll have to lay down quietly for a while, untill I stop twitching.
