Who cares if colors match reality? I care if colors match my taste.
As someone who worked in colour-matching for 25 years, I used to do the "proper" test (i.e. the coloured tiles) regularly. I usually scored between 4 and 16 and only once got a zero. The Ishihara test is not reliable, a significant proportion of people get false results - negatives and positives. Colour vision depends on a whole heap of factors, even down to mood.The Ishihara plates are the ones in the doctor's office with the coloured dots amongst which are some more consistent colours making numbers. These are specifically designed for genetic colour blindness and are less sensitive to other colour deficiencies, say due to optic nerve disease or cerebral abnormalities. For subtle optic nerve disease the Farnsworth Munsell kit with these same colours (like the online link) as moveable paint pots in a lovely, and of course very expensive, wooden box set is the best test.
