I shot a series of portraits today. All headshots on a 50mm Planar 2.0 with an M6ttl.

Late afternoon light, in a courtyard, no direct sun - fairly flat, low contrast.

Tri-X 400 rated at 320.

I have a 1:4 working solution of TMax RS in my closet, but I'm wary of using it on this roll (Kodak's published time for this combo is under 5 minutes, which seems precarious).

I'm mostly looking for good tonal range - I can boost contrast after I scan. Don't mind grain.

Anyone have results from Tri-X 400 ei 320 they're pleased with?

Would anyone just go for it with TMax RS?

Rodinal 1:50 with Tri-X sounds promising. I'm open to any suggestions.

Any info, especially pics of your results, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

xtol 1:1 (or d-76 1:1 like thomas said)
Stock d-76 or xtol (1:0) is probably a bit to short a time, and more contrasty than you'll need. You should get a better tonal range @ 1:1 with either developer.

Rodinal's great stuff, but if the headshots are important, this probably isn't the best time to experiment?

Thank you DFoo, Thomas, Brian and Gabor.

I went with D76 1+1 at 9min.

Have only scanned a few frames, but so far am very pleased with the results...
