How you (might) go about running a photo-project and publishing a book - blog

Hiya,

I decided to try and put some of the things I have learnt over the past few years on running a photo-project and publishing a book on to a new blog which I will update regularly with the ins and outs. It's not the way to do it, but a way.

Maybe it's of some use, maybe its how to suck an egg as written for your grandmother, I hope not. But it might be useful if you're wondering how you might be able to go about getting something off the ground and eventually committing it paper, producing it, marketing it and better still, turning a profit on it.

It's no dead cert advice but I seem to have made a reasonable success of selling >350 books in 2 1/2 months, which isn't bad for a first attempt! 😀

I believe the first part "where a project begins" is right on point from my experience. It covers those things I believe to be critical such as having a personal connection with the subject, letting things evolve while photographing, and doing the work primarily because you want to do it, not because you believe there is a financial reward.

I for one am VERY interested in your experience in that domain.

Your Milton Keynes book was very good Vicki, I have my signed copy sitting in the bookshelf between some guy called Cartier-Bresson and a someone called Vivian Maier.
