Hi.
Very exciting news for me today. We have now in Spain what we called "Semana Santa" or Holy Week. There are a lot of religious acts. People from several churches take the statues of Mary and Christ and carry them on their shoulders in the streets. One of these groups of people have asked my father and I if we could shoot them officially while they're carrying the images. What a blast!!. It's almost impossible to get near them as the streets are packed with people and police security lines leave you far from them, but tomorrow we'll be walking with them side by side taking pictures. We can even end up appearing on TV. Haha.
Anyway, I'm going to carry my M6 and 50 'cron, with some HP5. The event will take place starting at 7-7:30 PM, so the light will be pretty low, and night will fall pretty fast. Which ISO rating should I rate HP5+?. I'm leaning to rate it at 1600 ISO,
but I don't know how controlled grain will be. Any advice would be really helpful. I'll be developing with HC-110, dil. B.
Thanks,
Javier.

You big are you printing? I'm looking at a (traditional) 10x8 RC print from a HP5+ frame shot at 1600 and dev'd in HC-110(B), there is good detail and grain is 'pleasant'.
If this is important I would recommend you shoot some rolls today and decide yourself, everyone has different ideas/expectations.

I normally shoot HP5+ at 800 and get great results. Not really sure about 1600.

My current process is scanning the negative with an Epson V700 scanner. I don't own an enlarger. I'll be providing pics to them with a CD or DVD.
I'll probably carry a Canon 350D DSLR as a backup and for some color shots.
