FWIW, in D76 1+1 I always just used Ilford's time, 11 mins @ 20C, film exposed at 320 but that's probably more to do with my metering technique, and the latitude is huge so I doubt it matters at all.

If I'm doing 400, I develop at 13min @ 20C. I believe I developed the 3200 shots at 25min

I've just done my first roll of HP5 in ID-11 (Ilford's version of D-76). It seems to bring out the mid-tones better than my usual DD-X.

An extraordinary amount seems to depend on the photographer. My wife's pics often have better tonality on Tri-X; mine usually work better on HP5+. We both agree on this. Development is DD-X in both cases, and both are printed on Ilford Multigrade Warmtone.

We're also greatly impressed by the new 400-2 TMY -- easily the best T-Max yet, as far as we're concerned -- but not enough to make us change the habits of the last decade or so.

For me it's d-76 1+1 at 11 minutes or so, exposed at 320 or so. Given the number of variables, I try not to get too fussy.

I'm giving HP5 11 minutes in ID-11 at 70°F when shot at 400- so about the same as you pingle.
M7 with 50/2.0

Not the best scan, there is in fact lots to see in the shadows on paper.

OK, I'm convinced. I have 50-60 sheets of 4x5 HP5+ and a ton of D-76. I shall start at ASA 400/D76 1:1/11 minutes@ 68F or whatever Ilford's temp. conversion chart says if I can't get to 68F/Jobo 3010 Expert. I'm not going to make the 15%-20% reduction for the rotary tank just yet because I see times ranging from 11 to 13 minutes and temps. in the 68-70 degree range.

Sound right?

That ought to work. Note I reduce agitation during the last 4 minutes if I'm shooting in full sun to keep the highlights from getting too blown out.

Me too, but it certainly has a lot of snap to it in fairly flat light! Those look pretty nice, much like I remember in 35mm. I actually got on with this combo a lot better in MF - always rated it at 200 and dev'ed in 1+50 for 12 minutes @ 20C if memory serves.

Just ordered me up some Rodinal - need to start using the stuff again!

Just to report back that I'm quite happy with HP5+ @ 320 ISO, 10 min @ 70F in PMK Pyro. The negs are easy to scan and give a great dynamic range.
