Still being new at this film and developing stuff I set out to a low light setting to experiment with pushing some HP5. Once the lights came on for the performance I figured it wouldn't hurt to waste a roll of 120 film not expecting much. My little Gosen Digisix indicated I would have to push to 3200 to use the Agfa Super Isolette at 3.5 1/15 sec.

It was fun, I wonder what the woman sitting near me was thinking [she had been a long while setting up her tripod and big Canon 5D] when I took the folder out and taking hand held shots. I developed them in Ilfotec HC 1+15, 11 min. at 20c

I'd be interested to see more shots ... I've just done the same experiment with Neopan 400 and the results were startling.

The highlights were alittle out of control in my test but luckily it suited the subject material. I like that pic! :)

Wow; I'm liking this very much. More, please.

I'm not familiar with Ilfotec's dilutions, but 11 minutes sounds truly convenient for a 3-stop push; excellent. I'm used to 400TX@1600, HC110h, and ~20 min developing; sheesh. I also love thinking about the look on the 5D-shooter's face.

Cheers,

I 've been trying HP5 @ 3200 in DDX 1+4 and 1+9 for a few months now. From what I 've seen the big challenge is to keep blown highlights at bay (shadow is good). Best I 've managed so far was DDX 1+4 for 21' and 19C. Next I will be reducing to 20' and 19C and see how it goes.

I attach an older photo (Lux 35 preasph, HP5@3200, DDX 1+4)

Keith, thanks, the film and slow shutter speed capture the spiritual mood of the Sema ceremony nicely. This was my first time ever pushing a film, the Ilford chart shows time for it with Ilfotec HC so why not. I think because of MF the grain isn't that bad. I'll see if I can attach another shot where the semazen on the right is focused except for his head because his in bowing.

Joe, there is another shot in my gallery and the one I post here. Go to Ilfords site and check out the pdf for Ilfotec HC it gives you a chart for a lot of different films, that's what I worked from. It was kind of a lot of fun thinking about the kind of results I might get that you could never get from a 5D.

telenous, I would like to use DD-X but my Ilford dealer here didn't have any so it was Ilfotec HC. I would like to use it and their Delta film in 120 especially Delta 3200 but they don't carry it, I have to special order 50 rolls at a time.
