Hi,

170151963317 on the auction site has the relatively rare Russian TK-2D teleconverter for Leica screw mount, in box with manual. Turns your 50/1.5 Jupiter-3 into a 100/3 portrait Sonnar 🙂 Currently at 10 USD with no bids, shipping is $30 - not cheap but reasonable all in all. Ends in slightly less than an hour.

No connection to seller, as usual.

Hi Philipp,

Thanks. I have this converter. It works with all the normal lenses but J-8 and J-3 unfortunately. It could also be coupled to J-9, J-11. This is a very rare and useful lens.
I mounted it on Great Wall DF-2 with M39 J-11 for Zenit SLR, and it focus to infinate.😀

Cheers,

Zhang

I guess the shipping quote is what is deterring people. $40 including shipping isn't too expensive for the thing all in all.

I've eyed this converter more than once. MJS reports it's high optical
qualities ...

I always wondered which 50s can you put on it. The classic J-3 or Canon
50s might collide, no ?

Only have seen reports of people mounting tele lenses on it, like the
75 Heliar, for instance.

Anybody know ?

Thanks,

Roland.

Sold one of these on eBay recently as it was just collecting dust - only got $20 for it: should've sold it here!

Anyway, more info here: http://www.richcutler.co.uk/photo/photo_02.htm

The central optical cell extends beyond the front mounting flange, and measures 8 x 19 mm (length x diameter), so the rear element of any lens it's fitted to must clear this protrusion.

Also, note the comment on my web page about the focusing pawl.

As I mentioned, the only lens I tried it with (CV 75) showed bad flare at apertures smaller than f5.6. I assume it works better with Soviet lenses, but I never tried it out.

Hi,

I will find time to test it with my J-9, J-11, and see if it performs better with Soviet lenses. I don't think I have stopped down to F11 or smaller in my previous shot.

At f/11 set on the lens, the combo will have effective f/22 aperture - none of the lenses will be a stellar performer there.

The TK-2D could be seen at http://www.novacon.com.br/Zorkiacess.htm This teleconverter in developed to be used with Industar lenses I22/I50 and I26/I61. Its protuting front lens does not permits use with 50mm Jupiter lenses, Although can teoretically be used with Jupiter 9 and Jupiter 11, it will have problems in focusing at closer distances and will have no field viewing, besides its calculation is optimised for the Industar 50mm lenses. TK 2D meas Tele-Konverter-2x-Dalnomernii (Rangefinder)
