Ultrafineonline.com has Agfa APX 100 and 400 back in stock, in regular and bulk rolls. I just picked up 4 100' rolls of APX 100 for $28.95 each- that's a great price, even when this film was still readily available anywhere. Also, for those of you who like it, they have Fuji Neopan 1600 is $3.19 a roll for 36 exposure rolls. The website says it's all dated 4/2007 or better.

I have ordered from Ultrafineonline in the past, and been very pleased. Otherwise, of course I have no connection with them- just giving a heads-up.

The APX100 is going up. A couple of years ago those 100' rolls were $22. It was always comparatively inexpensive film and now it's going to be made again so maybe it will get a little bit cheaper. That's still a very good price for a quality film. I too have bought from untrafineonline and had good experiences.

I didn't know it was going away! I knew the 120 version was, but everything I read said that 100 and 400 will be available for 35mm size.

Eric- where are you reading that? Last I heard, it was discontinued, maybe a year ago. Has is been resurrected, or was I hallucinating? Anyone?

YES, that is true. Everything I read *indicated* the 120 film...not 35mm. When 120 APX100 was gone, there was still lots and lots of 35mm APX100.
I can barely get any 120 film these days. At least the staples are around, PX, TX, Neopan.

Yep, APX 100 and APX 400 are discontinued...

If someone is going to start making them again, I'd love to know the details.

The thing with Wikipedia is that anyone who can type can write the wrong information.

Just go to the source:

After 120size Apx100 was gone, there were tons of 35mm apx100. Most searches on apug say the same thing. 120 yes, gone, 35mm, still there.

Yes, there's lots of it available, but that's not the question. The question is whether production has ceased. And that Agfa site doesn't say it's still in production - it just describes the film.

Retro Photographic (a B&W specialist in the UK) says:

"Agfa Agfapan APX100 & APX400
Agfa Photo kept the machines running right up to the last moment before their demise and there are significant stockpiles of the APX100 & 400 still left, dated 12/2010 35mm 36exp only - no 120 "

So if they're right, that means the two films are discontinued, and we are buying the final stockpile now.

Is APX 100 really going to be made again? Is that an internet rumor, or is is legit? I'd love to see it happen. Any info?
Off the top of my head... no I couldn't remember enough detail so I had to find it on APUG:

Mirko Böddecker of Fotoimpex who has the ADOX franchise in Germany announced a year ago that ADOX in collaboration with former Agfa research scientists were going to be making Agfa MCC paper as part of a four-part project. The other parts of the project were Agfa 25, Agfa 100, and Agfa 400. I think all will be sold under the ADOX brand and ADOX will be dropping the current CHS films. The good news is that the MCC paper is released. The bad news is that film development depends on the success of the MCC paper sales.

Here's the original thread so you can read the details: http://www.apug.org/forums/forum172/40721-resurrection-mcc-progressing.html

I remember that story; I don't know if any of it came to fruition- never found any of the supposedly resurrected Agfa papers in the US, but I heard lots of rumors. Sadly, I'll continue to assume this stuff is indeed gone, and we are just buying up the last stock of the film that's still to be found. Too bad- it's an excellent film. Wish I could still find any APX 25, or APX 100 in sheets...sigh.

Well its 8 months+ since I followed up on this but a quick visit just now to the Fotoimpex site reveals that MCC papers are indeed being sold under the ADOX brand:

and it looks like they are selling ADOX Pan Pro 25 in 35mm, 4x5, and 8x10 formats too:

http://tinyurl.com/3r79kv

and furthermore the ADOX MCC papers are being sold by Freestyle:

http://tinyurl.com/3pvqhr

so the papers at least are being sold in the US and it may only be a matter of time before the film is too. Mirko is well known and respected in Europe and it isn't surprising that he is doing his best to follow through. It would be good to spread the news of the availability of the MCC papers as Mirko has said film development is predicated on the initial sales of the first developed products.

Adox Pan 25 isn't Agfa.
You're absolutely right Alan. You know, I did wonder when they didn't go on and on in the film page about "identical to Agfa" like they do on the page about the MCC paper. I made the incorrect assumption that they had come out with the first Agfa film as well (it was dinner time too 😉). After your post I did a bit more research and Adox Pan 25 is a modern technology film with a very fine grain emulsion according to the description. So thanks for pointing that out. I guess now we have to buy even more of the MCC papers to fund getting real Agfa 25 film back...

some 2 advantages over Freestyle:

a) Fujicolor 100 at lowest price in the Galaxy

b) Possibility of Paypal

disadvantage: no shipping beyond Canada and USA.

Peter- thanks for the info. According to the links you give above, it looks like the Adox equiv. of the Agfa MCC fiber paper is not the same stuff that Freestyle is carrying- and what they have is mostly out of stock right now, and only available in 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14- no big sizes, but it's something. Anyway, I'll order some of what they have, and see how it compares. From reading the info. you linked, it sounds like it should be nice stuff.

Anyway, I still have some Agfa stuff frozen- if I can find some of the Adox I'll see how it compares.

Thanks for the education. Here's hoping you all keep finding your favorite supplies on the shelves.

It is indeed - and with nice tonality too (I have some in my fridge, and I have some test shots on Flickr, here).

Yeah, I'd love to have APX25 and APX100 back (I like APX400 too, but I could live without that more easily). Unfortunately, I don't have a wet darkroom these days, so I can't really buy any paper to support Adox - I guess I'll just have to keep buying their film instead.

And thanks for that APUG link. I've just read it all and it's great news - Adox sound like a great little company who deserve our support.

Alan I have a hefty supply of APX100 in bulk rolls so I am set for a while. But I do like the Agfa stuff and I have a supply of Rodinal but like you I also lack a wet darkroom. I do have the space in my house but no time/money at the moment. The usual...

I was pretty sure someone was picking (Fotoimpex?) up manufacturing of APX100; they bought all the Agfa machinery IIRC.

Edit: I can't find anything that says they are or will produce APX100. ... just so you know I'm not trying to spread yet another Intertube rumour. 🙄

I've got a modest supply of APX100 in the freezer - I really should get another couple of years' worth while it's still available. And yep, I think it's great in Rodinal.

That's my problem too. There's a storage/workroom I could easily use, but it's the time/money thing. And I'm out of the UK for about half the year, so it's debatable whether it would be a wise investment anyway. But on the other hand, there's still nothing to touch a good silver print. Oh, the indecision!
