There is an annual photo fair in Waltham sponsored by the Photographic Historical Society of New England this coming Saturday and Sunday, the 19th & 20th. I've never been to it but I understand its quite good and people like the dealer Sam Shoshan and the repair tech Sherri Krauter are regulars. There's lots of Leica and other RF related stuff there and a free A (adjust only, as distinct from CLA) service.

This from the PHSNE site: "Photographica Show & Sale, Armenian Cultural and Educational Center, 47 Nichols Ave, Watertown, MA, see map, 9-5PM Sat, 10-4PM Sun, $5 adult, $4 seniors students, $3 PHSNE members.)

I'll be there with my RFF hat probably Saturday morning or afternoon. Hope to see some local RFFers there!

I just made plans with my son to take him someplace "fun" this weekend.

Actually, it is fun, he goes where he wants to and I get to take photos of him there.

How far west of Boston is this Peter, not that far right?

No, not that far Ralph. Waltham can be easily got at from Rte 128 (Interstate 95). So coming from CT it would be north on 84 or something similar, east on the Mass Pike to 128, then north on 128.

Too bad Ralph. I'm going to get out there this afternoon and will try not to spend any money, I just need a filter or two and maybe an M/LTM adapter. I plan to handle an M2 and an M3 to see what all the fuss is about, the only Leicas I've ever held are my own and Joerg's IIIC.

If any RFF'ers are there I'll be wearing my RFF hat so please say hello! 🙂

Hi,

I went this afternoon and did not meet any Rangefinderforum members, despite my hat..

Plenty of stuff. Leicas, Nikons and fixed lens rangefinders.
Unfortunately prices were high for quality items and plenty of "garbage" sold as "excellent"
Well saved myself some money, but did get an Leica LTM to M adapter for reasonable price.

Ciao Joerg

I also went this afternoon, got there a bit before 4 0'clock. You were probably gone by then Joerg as I also didn't run into any other RFFers. My ticket is good for tomorrow too but I don't know that I will be going back. I was kind of disappointed actually, I've never been to a camera show before and I didn't know what to expect, but there was an awful lot of what I would politely call junk on show, the prices weren't great, and the dealers were avaricious.

I also handled an M2 and an M3 for the first time and that was something of a letdown too. Yes the film winder is nice on them but give me a modern camera with a nice crisp viewfinder any day - also they're a bit too small for my hands... Anyway I've satisfied my curiosity and now I know I don't need to look past the bodies I currently use to some other model. Maybe the show was good after all! 😉

Well, I was planning to go tomorrow, but it seems it may not be worth the trip.

Did they have any zeiss ikon lenses, or is this purely for used items?
Was Sherry there?

Ray it seemed to me that everything there was used, some of it very used. I didn't see Sherry there (which doesn't mean she won't be there tomorrow) nor did I see any ZI lenses. I saw a zillion SLR bodies though...

BTW the show is in Watertown as per the web site I linked to in my initial post. The map on the PHSNE web page isn't much good - you need to get on Arsenal St in Watertown from Soldiers Field Road (assuming you're coming from the general direction of Harvard) then turn right on Arlington St and take the 2nd left on Nichols St and the show is on the right side of the road. That is if youre going...
