It sure does look like separation. There's also that circular spot of something or other that definitely isn't a reflection. It's too bad. The 85/2 is brilliant, and the black model is at least half the weight of the chrome. I've had both...never used the chrome because of the heft. Really enjoy the black one I have now though, when I need a short tele, though it's a toss-up whether I like it or the 105/2.5 better!
