HU: Black paint 35mm 1st version Summicron

I didnt even know that they made a BP summicron in screwmount

No shots of the rear thread included. I'm thinking this was a bayonet lens with a detachable bayonet (like some Summarons and early Summicrons had) and the detached bayonet went missing...😱

Apparently that doesn't stop some folks, it's close to 3500 USD now already, yikes!

And it looks like you may be right about a detachable M adapter.... the rear has 3 threads on the outside casing that looks too wide to be LTM threads...

Is this usable w/o the M Adapter?

Yes, on any screwmount camera, Zorki, Leica, Canon etc.

It is a normal screwmount lens. The brass threads you see are the focusing threads that activate the rangefinder of the camera.

Of course you can mount a bayonet adapter when you want to use the lens on an M-mount camera.

Erik.

Curious, these late black ltm lenses.

What were they for? Surely not all for the Swedish armed forces? Don't think they ever had this lens.

I can understand the existence of black viewfinders like the ones that Erik has shown us because they would have a place on early black M cameras.

But black ltm lenses when no black cameras were being made (apart from the Swedish ones)????

Someone enlighten me...

The advertisement said those lenses were made as special edition versions, so indeed only a few likely were produced. Probably >95% in chrome, a handful of them in black chrome or black paint...

Pretty lens for sure, never saw one before...!

So I wonder, are they black on brass so as to be the same construction as the chrome ones or black on alloy like a 'normal' black lens?

I'm not familiar with and can't afford this lens. I only have a little 2.8 Summaron which I guess is roughly the same mechanical construction.

Perhaps someone with more historical knowledge can chime in, but I don't think these early lenses were manufactured in anything but brass alloys.

When I had posted the link I did not realize it was an LTM lens, which I never knew existed.

Shockingly expensive, but not surprising. What is surprising is the fact that it reached such a price on eBay, whereas this sort of collectible stuff tends to sell well under prices achieved if sold at a Westlicht auction, for example. More then 1 person had obviously been looking for it!
