HU: Canon 50/1.8 LTM only $610

Well, that's a buy-it now price i.e. wishful thinking.

I've seen some photo items on ebay posted for months and even years with buy-it-now prices that are double and even triple the prices that the items sell for at legitimate dealers like KEH. One would think that eBay's fees for repeatedly listing an item that never sells would be killing these greedy sellers financially. Seems like damn near everything in the photo categories there is like that now, so eBay is making good money, but how are the sellers doing?

Nah, that auto-up attachment is not rare -- $25-$85 value depending on condition, case, box, etc. And the hood is about a $40 item. So, all included we're looking at about a $350 set, IMO, if the lens is valued at top dollar of around $250.

There are a lot of sellers on Ebay that are clueless about the value of their items, and probably just as many buyers that are clueless about what to pay.

Ebay makes money on both types.

Have these folks never heard of ebay completed transactions? KEH? B&H? Adorma? RFF?

At one point, I believed you could list used kitty litter on Ebay and get more for it than fresh kitty litter at the Pet Store.

Actually, this contributes to inflated prices. Other sellers see the high prices being asked by certain eBay sellers, and that leads them to believe that this is the true value of an item.

Pretty soon, even more people are putting their items up for sale at these higher prices.

However, I do see certain vendors having items for sale for years.

The lens set is overpriced by several hundred dollars. I would say that a good price is $180-$200.[/quote said:
I sure hope you're right, Raid, b/c I'm looking for this lens, but not at that price! I've also noticed that prices on the Canon 35/2 are creeping up towards $500... 😱
