That must have just happened. When I checked their website a few hours ago, the EOS-M/22mm lens combo was going for $349.00 and was listed as "backordered."

What I've read, the latest firmware update greatly helped autofocus speed.

No prob. Here's a quick shot I took of the neighbour's cat (yes, sorry) this afternoon to show the thin DOF and sharpness of CV lenses on the EOS-M. I like the colour straight out of camera, too (this is using the Faithful mode, with contrast added, then AutoCorrect and sharpened in PS Elements).

So the question is whether it is worth it to spend an extra $50 and get the zoom. For another $75 or so you can get a red camera.
 
Never tried or even considered the zoom, but from what I have read and know from other users, they consider the 22mm to be really something special, whereas the zoom is just a zoom. Maybe get the package with both lenses AND the EOS mount adapter included? The red is really nice, though... I had to buy black cos that and white were the only colours the dealer had in stock at the time.
 
Hmmm tempting but also not.
I was reading abouyt the AF system in the upcoming 70D.
If Canon is possibly going to put the same system into a body with this mount ... that's what I would want.
Even if it's incrementally more expensive it will be worth it.

I like the cat shot BTW. When I think of the eos look it's that high black point saturated shadow/dark tones that look that appeals to me.
I use my 5Dii in this way often. The CR2 files are easy to manipulate in this way and still have balanced detail in mid and higher tone areas.
Might just be me ... I'm ok with that.

The black body has a MUCH better finish compared to the other colors red, white and silver, which have a plastic feel to them.

Both lenses - the 18-55 zoom and the 22mm pancake - are optically superb although the zoom shows some barrel distortion at the wide end. But that can be corrected in post for those pics which need it.

You should probably get the kit with the fast 22mm prime and hope for a faster zoom from Canon (or buy Sigma's new 18-35mm f/1.8 zoom and mount it via adapter).

You'll need a few more protected LP-E12 batteries no matter what. 875mAh is not a lot of juice for this camera.
 
At $299 this camera is very inviting even with the old firmware. This is basically a 35mm equivalent lens with a free APS-C 18 megapixel camera attached. :) And it's a great lens!
 
Price has been put up at B&H as well, and the package with 22mm seems to be unavailable. I think B&H got a quantity on blowout -- Amazon followed B&H's pricing down, and is now following it back up as there is a limited quantity available probably. I think B&H must have gotten a ton of orders at the $299 price that they have to fill from a still undelivered shipment, so this is probably what is left...
