HU: huge huge huge Leica/RF auction

I am sure that this is about the third or fourth time this guy has tried to sell it as a package. IMHO, the only person that will buy such a thing is a dealer. I wish him luck but I think he would have little proble and get more in return if he broke it up.

The first time I saw this guy's auction, I was still on a dial up connection. I went and had lunch while all the images loaded. I did like looking at all this stuff but I wonder why he keeps listing it this way? If he doesn't want to sell it peicemeal couldn't he call Christie's or Westlicht or Tamarkin or whoever and have them handle it for him?

Of course I did just find out that the Togo branch of the Bank Of Africa wants to send me 17.3 million US dollars so maybe I'll just do the B.I.N. thing and save him from having to re-list it for a fifth time... 😀

ah, here it is again. He's been trying to sell this set for a long time. More than a year. And I think he actually increased the price.

Whats wrong with this picture? Why doesnt a dealer bid on this stuff? There's a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of shit here.

Are you sure this guy isnt Nigerian?

I do wish he would break it up. I'd love to at least have a chance at bidding on that beautiful Canon IVSb2... Ah well. Wonder how many times he'll keep posting it like this?

And I don't think I've seen a picture of a nicer looking Bessa II... :bang:

Since that price is half again as much as my CAR cost, I think l'll pass. And I agree he's probably missing the boat doing it that way. Probably doesn't want to sell to a dealer, as he probably wouldn't get his price.

They say Rome wasn't built in a day, and you couldn't have destroyed it one day, either. He surely bought all that stuff piecemeal.

But for the sake of argument, let's say he bought all of it new and has taken good care of it. Leicas, Canons, Rolleis, some good stuff there if it's all in good condition. But it would take some time to be sure of that. (What's his buyer feedback???)

He surely would do better, and probably get more total, if he would go one at a time, or at least similar things at a time. We don't know, but could it be that he DOESN'T HAVE the time, if you know what I mean. You'll surely see the same ad a few more times.

If he had broken this up when he first posted it (more than a year ago as has already been pointed out) and put up a couple of items a week, he'd have it all sold by now. Sure is a nice collection.

A dealer wouldn't buy a collection like this one at a price like the one he's asking. In fact, a dealer would offer a significantly lower amount and sell it for twice as much.

I think this guy is deluding himself into believing someone will purchase the whole lot at his asking price. Sure... like museums would be interested in paying his mortgage.

Reminds me of the guy who puts up for sale his collection of flagged Leicas (the special models with a national flag). And he wants even more: sometimes it's $69,000.

One more to the eBay book of records... 🙄

There's a local guy who buys or bids on these and then sells them off piece by piece, he's been burned more than a few times by buyers, so I'm not sure if he's still into it.
