HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 X3F Sigma Merrill and ERF Epson support

For anyone out there considering buying a HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 please note that I recently provided both X3F and ERF files to the HyperDrive support for them to try if their product was compatible. Their very friendly supporter "Angelo" wrote back:

"Unfortunately none of the supplied RAW images are supported by the UDMA2 device."

So if you need to backup your Epson or Sigma Merrill files look elsewhere.

A user on dpreview has informed me, that the files (X3F) can be backed up but not viewed. I have no way to verify this myself, but whoever may consider this product should bear that in mind.

And now this has been confirmed by HyperDrive themselves. So while the original X3F files cannot be seen, the drive can be used as backup.

I would have expected that the raw would be saved. I guess the best way to use would be to shoot raw+jpg.

Indeed. What I initially thought was that the X3F could not be transferred to the drive at all (like you cannot transfer X3F files to iPads directly from SD cards - it may actually be possible with another Hyperdrive product).
