HU Kobalux M 28/3.5

I'd presume that it's Kobalux given what little is on the lens, but at that price what does someone have to loose? I'm paying $195 for a Serenar 28/3.5 - good glass, beater chrome - and I considered it a good deal. I still do. That's simple theft if it's any good at all. Someone here needs to grab it.

I was wondering what that was. Looks different. Anybody can confirm ?

Roland.

That's a Kobalux. These marks are identical to my 21mm

* chrome aperture ring "MADE IN JAPAN" also red "R"

* only "brand" name is "M-SERIES"

There are another half dozen things that are identical

Someone get it or I will be forced to even though I don't need it.

God spare me

After reading everyone's posts and this page, curiosity got the better of me. I've been using the 28/2.8 Elmarit (latest) - should I expect similar performance from the 28mm Kobalux?

This is an interesting lens as it is almost totally symetrical, unlike the 21mm f2.8 .
I have the 21mm and its a great lens on my RD1, close to the Zeiss and Leica. But I would be hesitent to use the 28mm it may suffer from severe vignetting on a digital camera. For film it could be fine. At the price it is going for curiosity could make the sale.

I don't think it would come close to the Elmarit, but what do I know? In fact very few people have any experience with this lens. Somebody on the RFF should buy it to tell the rest of us what its like.

Sounds like a truly intriguing lens... I bought it last night, will post my impressions when it gets here.

Andy, I have the M39 version (slight cosmetic differences, like the focusing tab is different). I did not think this lens was at all available in M mount. I think you will be very impressed with its performance. You got a great deal, too!

Andy,

Great move. Stella writes very highly about them (the 21 and the 28), but I thought that 28 was a 2.8. It does look very well built. When I was poking around getting back into RF a few years back I was on the hunt for a 21/2.8, but my 25/4 and 15/4.5 filled the need well.

$200 is a GREAT price for this lens (IMHO).

Very well done.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!! :bang: :bang:

I mean, you lucky dog, enjoy the lens.

That was a super incredible deal. I've seen those lenses go for around $1000, sometimes more.

Nick, Bill – thanks a lot, I look forward to playing with it. Frankly, it was in large part the solid/well-built/clean look of the lens that pushed me “over the edge”. And - didn’t someone once say “one can never have enough 28mm lenses”? 🙂

A couple of weeks ago I looked here on rff and found a heads up message for an auction of a CV pancake 1 35/2.5 that I had been seeking a long time.
I love that lens!
I thought i'd return the favor.
There was last week a Pentax LTM 1.9/40 but it didn't get a heads up from me because I noticed a forum member was already bidding on it.
This kobalux had no bids, and I knew if anyone here had already seen it, it would have already been gone.
I'm glad it got bought before I had to do it.

Lol!

Lol!

Well it would be so rare, that it would still be worth it. Congratulations and I look forward to a review or some sample photos from it!

The Orion 15 28mm at f6! goes for around $180, so whatever you got can't be a relatively bad deal.

Just curious, are there a lot of M lenses that use the old style round focusing tab, and does that have the old style infinity lock as well?

- wouldn't it be a riot if this turned out to be a cheap FSU immitation? 😱
