HU: Lookie Lookie M3+8.5cm 2.0

So the seller doesn't really know cameras. He does have a good return policy:

For us Customer satisfation is #1. We will refund purchase price (and shipping costs in the USA if warranted) for items that a customer is unhappy with. No Questions asked!

Black lenses don't come along everyday. It has the original hood. Big plus. Looks like the beginnings of a good user kit.

Kiu or someone else could chime in, but I think that this version of the lens with the finer striations on the focusing ring is a less common than the normal one. I would estimate that the lens alone would go for about $600 due to collector interest.

This is the black, lighter version of the lens, and like Marc said, the rarer old one
with the finely curled focus ring (also easier to CLA). Worth much more
than the older chrome one, in nice condifition as
it seems > US 600. A killer combo, see my avatar.

Roland.

I reckon the current bid is over the value of the M3 alone. From here on out we find out what the lens is worth.

23 hours to go, and the price is up to $1,178.00 Assuming $600 for the double-stroke M3, the lens is pushing $600 already.

Silly crazy if you ask me. Maybe closer to $500 for an M3 in dire need of a CLA.

No worries. I already have 75mm & 90mm lenses and a Speed Graphic in dire need of film.

Certainly on the edge of the "collector price" range. Why can't they collect SUVs? They're going to be "shelf material" in about five years. They're not going to use the camera or the lenses, surely they won't hesitate to mothball a Canyonero.

Auction closed at 1313 USD. Given 500 to 600 for the M3 body, the fine-knurled 85/2 Nikkor probably accounted for 700 to 800 USD, or at least a 2X premium over the less-collectible chrome version.
