HU: M2 KS15, military camera

Interesting, but too much for my pocket. I love my civlian version, the M2-R. I wonder what became of the original 50mm f/2 Elcan lens (E. Leitz Canada) that came with it.

The 50mm Elcan was mated with the KE7a (a military M4).

The KS15-4 was packaged in a military case with a 50mm DR Summicron, 35mm eight-element Summicron, and a 135mm Elmart-M (with the eyes).

Bill, you're probably right about that. My brand new M2-R came with 50/2 D.R. Summicron for the price of about $370, not much more than an M4 body alone sold for.

I've had 3 of these cameras, bought for resale as they are premium priced usually as a 'collector's item'. Only real difference with the normal M2 was the first Leica with the quick-load film system later introduced as standard on the M4. The camera also had the wiring for a Leica motor (no film diagram area contacts though) and was protected a bit better from dirt with some seals.

Story... My brother was given a M2 KS-15 in Vietnam to use. Didn't think anything of it at the time as I was too young and not into photography, but years later when I had an M4 he mentioned the same film loading system in his camera. The M2 KS-15 I found were all in Thailand, I guess left behind.
