The camera will need a CLA

...and if you do it yourself:
1. the infinity can be adjusted without removing the top.
2. the vertical adjust can be reset after removing the front screw in the front of the top cover

There once was a day when I'd by such a camera, restore and resell it. But values are in high fluctuation right now. Even at $299, I'm not sure I'd get my money out. At $400, after taxes and expenses, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get my money out.

This is an M4-2, not a very desireable Leica, even for users.

Hi Vick,

I know it can be pretty simple to fix. But I remember an exchange of emails I had once with Youxin Ye and he told me that the RF can be adjusted up to a certain range only. Too far off and it's an extensive repair.

What do you mean values are fluctuating? I haven't visited RFF for several months, Leica's are not selling well anymore?

I would buy it. The RF adjustment isn't a terribly expensive job for Sherry or DAG. All in all, the camera looks well used but that's never been a deterrent.

I really wish I could swing it. These bodies have a certain je ne sais quoi about them... 😉

Yes, I bought it. 🙂 Youxin is going to CLA it and fix the focus, and then it's going to get a fresh coat of yellow paint. Yes, yellow as in 'maillot jaune.' Then it will have this logo silkscreened on the right hand back under the wind lever:

Then it will be auctioned with proceeds going to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Very nice idea !! Good luck with this project !🙂 I think that the rangefinder alignment will not be a big problem.

Very nice of you! At first when I read you were going to paint it yellow I though Jee I should have purchased it to save it from such a terrible fate. But then it's for a good cause so hats off! 🙂

We'll see how well it goes. 🙂 The project has the full support of the foundation and permission to use the logo, and we will match the yellow color with the proper Pantone, etc. However I'm thinking that the auction should have a lens to go with the body.
