Hehe. I don't want to carry $6k cash anywhere. Seriously, how do people deal with a huge purchase like this? (assuming the seller is legit)
Only way I can think of is going to a bank together and do the transaction there in front of cameras and guards...

My M5s need red dots!
If I had 6K I'd take a trip to Europe with my family and my film Leicas. That'd be a heck of a lot more fun!

In my case, it will be a long solo-trip. Been thinking about Barnack only trip to Europe for a while...

Sug- Ive done just that. Gone to the bank with the buyer/seller and had a cashiers check made out. Next, cash it at the same bank. That way you have the cash and a paper trail.

Ah! That's a great point. Never thought of the paper trail part with cashiers check. I shall try that when I do any high amount transaction on CL. (unfortunately, not M9.

I've done transactions in my bank a couple of times. If you're a regular customer they don't seem to mind. They seem to be used to it, a lot of people do car deals there too.
Many years ago I met a guy at the showroom of Ellis Brooks on Van Ness to buy a Summilux. Everyone looked at us like we were crazy, I handed him $900 and he handed me a square white box...

I always fear I look like a drug dealer when doing CL deals. Rolls of cash handed off between people just meeting for a moment...

B&H even had a black M9 the other day for $6,100. Meanwhile I've dumped more in a stupid M2 and film, processing and scanning than that so far this year.

When I had my M8 on craigslist I had a stipulation that if someone wanted to pay cash the exchange had to be done in front of a police station.

I had my M9 at 6K long time ago.

For me it is an issue of time. It is easy to shoot and process a half dozen rolls of film, making a couple hundred scans is another proposition. Shooting film for scanning is beginning to become a folly for me, shooting film for printing is still a logical endeavor. Knowing in advance what I want to do with the images is not always a given.![]()
I don't know what scanner you use, but there are solutions that allow for quick scanning.
for a full roll, the Nikon 5000 is great.
Once the film is cut, the Epson V700 would be the quicker solution.
Of course, scanning lots of film in a dedicated scanner six frames stripes after six frames stripes would drive nuts a Buddhist Monk.

If the seller's legit, I would meet him/her at my bank. I could see the camera and transfer the cash to the person. But, man, I'd be wary of spending $6K on a used camera, no matter what type. Just my nature ...
