KEH has a 5cm f/1.4 S.C (I believe an NKJ in the 33xxxx range) in EX condition for $599. Not a silly steal, but a better-than average price these days, and it's from a reputable returnable source.

I haven't been keeping up the prices on these since I bought one several years ago. If you had asked me, I would have guessed a price of $200-250. I guess I'm way out of date (in more ways than one).

Yeah, prices are up into the "silly" range.
I haven't seen them on the 'bay for $400 for a while, and $250 is a dream.

Yeah, big changes since 3 years ago. Biggest impacts are the M9, and excellent lens adapters. Maybe second biggest impact are 4/3 micro cameras and excellent lens adapters.
Maybe the good thing is the passion around the imaging qualities of classical lenses - those classical lenses deserve to be used.

Thanks for posting. And while I did check to see if it was still there, I'm done, I'm done, I'm done...at least, for now.

Yeah, these lenses are getting scarce and pricey lately. I have a NKT 5005xxxx example, and I'm waiting for a late black ring example. THEN I'm done.
Hard to believe prices are up $500 over what I paid 7 years ago. You can buy a Nikon S2 with an S-Mount 5cm f1.4 for not much more.

These days an excellent condition ltm Jupiter goes for around 200, particularly after throwing in a bit extra for getting it adjusted. I think mine probably cost me more in total but I went with the best I could spot.
The $130 Nikkor f2 in need of some work on keh... almost bought it but decides to sleep on it. Fortunately for my wallet it sold over night.

The M9, M8, and mirrorless camera are driving prices of classic lenses up. I like using the LTM Nikkor with the EP2 as it makes use of the 18" close-focus. It is also much smaller than an SLR 50, and is well balanced on the EP2.

Right now, the M9 has a coated Sonnar on it:
And the M8 has a Jupiter-3 on it.

I converted the Sonnar to LTM and adjusted the J-3. Not hard to do.

The biggest difference I can find between the ltm and S mount 50/1.4 is the closer focusing helical on the ltm version.
Still poses and interesting trade off between a closer focusing lens or a body + lens.

I saw this one on the 'bay going for cheap a couple of days ago:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/330614108770?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649
Granted it wasn't the 1.4 but it was the real late one with the black ring.
I wasn't the lucky winner. :bang:
Just have patience and fish on the 'bay...

BTW, the funny thing about the one at KEH is that the description has it as a "Soft Cover" lens -- must be somebody's idea of what "S.C" stands for.

Last time I checked it was still available .... cheap actually, if you think it performs just as well as a Summilux pre-asph.

A little off topic but would any kind souls here know where can i find a rear lens cap for the 5cm f1.4?

Does it need to be an original lens cap? If not, just about any LTM cap should do.

Hi Tim,
Thanks, i forgot to indicate clearly that im looking at the S mount rear cap. Problem is, is there a rear lens cap for this lens? I cant see to find any on ebay with my description.
