HU: OM-4T with some tasty extras!

That 100/2 was sold recently for $800 on the big circus called 'bay.

I don't get it, what would be so special about that lens? it's just a hair faster than the super compact 100/2.8 but bulkier.

Must be another collectors darling lens.

Always a lens I lusted for Will. Factor 2 is not exactly "a hair" for me :)
ED glass, too.

Roland.

I'm not sure that I would describe a full stop difference as a hair! With floating rear elements and the ED glass, it is an extremely nice lens. Diminutive it's not (twice as heavy), but it handles very nicely. This lens was introduced very late in the OM game, along with the 35-80/f2.8 (also ED, and even harder to get) when the OM-4 came out.

Hmm I have a 100/2.8, maybe I should sell it..? Never use anything beyond 50mm really.

The 100/2.8 Zuiko is common and only worth about $100 in good condition. I got mine for $60 on Ebay last year. Its an extremely sharp lens so the low price doesn't mean its not good. The f2 model is costly as a collectors item cause few were made, that's all. the 90mm f2 macro and the 40mm f2 are also ultra costly for that reason.

Roland and Larry, didn't mean to annoy you guys with my choice of word.

To me, a fast, but big and heavy short-tele is rather useless. At that focal length, most good lenses are already lovely at rendering portraits without having to be extra corrected. The 90/2 I understand, it has macro capabilities, but the 100/2.8 and 85/2 are good enough for me.

I'd have to see some pretty amazing pictures from this lens before I want it badly enough.

Today, if I am going to spend near as much money, I'd get the Zuiko Digital 50/2 which pretty much gave me the same thing + AF + macro on my E-300.

Just saying...
