There's also a 50/0.95 shade up for a true auction at the moment:

Both at opening bids below market value, so we'll get a real feel for what they are both fetching.

There's also a 0.95 shade at a $395 "Buy-it-now", but that's a "go fish" or "sucker" price.

Well, the first auction for the 1.2 ended with no bids. I was a bit surprised, but I also think the current economy in the US + the usually slow Xmas season on eBay had a lot to do with the no sale. Certainly, the seller is a well known dealer, and not the super price type, so that should not be a factor.

The 0.95 shade has that bad spot, which looks like a dropped camera caused it. If so, the shade performed one of its secondary functions, helping to protect the lens. That also makes it a user, and not a collectible for most buyers. There are many less expensive alternatives for a user shade than the dinged originals.

Still, both were interesting and instructive, more so when the 0.95 does finish.
