HU: What a beauty.

Makes a great paper weight..... I could be wrong, but what possibly could one get out of this black thing? Any spare part that could be salvaged?
 
If the top plate can be saved then all you need is a donor M3 to make this original again. I think someone like CCR Luton can do this.
 
I don't know man. That thing looks so bent out of shape in so many different places. I'd love to know how it got that way.
 
I'm sure DAG could fix it right up. But seriously, what happened to that camera? Plane crash? Niagra Falls? Angry gorilla? Frustrated photographer?
 
No, it was definitely destroyed on purpose, probably by an agent of some police apparatus, or possibly a spouse. It also may have been exposed to a vacuum.
 
I consider buying it. Then I could tell my children/grandchildren some phantastic stories about my adventurous life as a photographer in the past ;-) A story with an elephant in the jungle who crashed the camera would be great.
But what if they ask for the pictures of my adventures with that camera..... Bad idea.
 
If the price was right I'd consider buying it - just to see the look of horror on my camera repairer's face when I told him I'd bought a "user" M3 and wanted a service on it!
 
Didn't someone start a thread a little while back asking whether a Leica could really survive being thrown against a brick wall... That M3 may not have been the most appropriate choice for a test subject.
 
I will use it for an insurance claim. AIG should have no problem paying. They are pros at rip-offs. (see bailout 2.0)
